The hotel was founded in 1950 by Don Agustín Bouvet Monteverde, who enjoyed traveling by car, mainly to nature destinations like parks and reserves. While in the USA he saw the beginning of "motor-hotels" (where the car is parked in front of the room's door). These kind of hotels were called "motels".
The hotel began with 10 rooms, including garages, hosting both driver and automobile. Don Agustín was aware of the advantages of being safe from the weather while the car engine was checked or the luggage was either loaded or unloaded.
With this as his inspiration, the Motel del Mayo team offers repairs for your car in addition to our focus on the highway, family and business tourist. The Mayo team, whom are lovers of nature, offer ecologic adventure tours (trekking, hiking, mountain biking, kayaking, rappelling, bird watching, etc.) in the same places where our Mayo ancestors walked, and where you can enjoy nice and relaxing physical exercise, as well as the great beauty of archeological and nature sites.
